Causes

Orbital cellulite is a dangerous infection with potentially serious complications.

A sinus infection bacterium (usually Homophobes influenza) usually causes this condition in children. Orbital cellulite due to this bacterium used to be much more common in children up to 6-7 years; however, this infection is now uncommon due to HiB vaccine (Homophobes influenza B). see here
The bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumonia, and streptococci may also cause orbital cellulite.
